Common Building Code Violations

Bradford Miller Law, located in downtown Chicago has been assisting clients with Building Code Violations for several years. Contact our office is you have been cited for ANY building code violation for a free 15-minute consultation.

Avoid violations and make your house safer by fixing these common code violations:
  • Smoke Alarms should be placed on each level of the house and outside or in each bedroom.
  • Bathroom exhaust fans should vent to the outside. This can be either through the roof or the side of the house, not into the attic. Venting into the attic can cause rotting of the roof framing and sheathing.
  • Handrails without returns. Handrails need to turn and end at the wall. Returns keep items such as sleeves and straps from getting caught which can cause a fall.
